The True AI Race: People Over Chips

There’s growing concern that AI is coming to take everyone’s jobs. One of the reasons we think that is because AI leaders are saying so. OpenAI CEO Sam Altman said last year that AI will make some job industries “just like totally, totally gone.” New technologies like agentic AI are already taking over common tasks such as booking flights, making online sales transactions and responding to customer complaints, reducing the number of roles humans can fill. Many entry-level jobs, particularly in industries such as software engineering and marketing, are drying up with AI poised to take over.

While it’s easy to feel gloomy about the whole situation, the truth is people are actually more valuable than ever, with companies scrambling to collect as much human talent as they can. And the best example is those very same AI companies themselves.
