What SolasAI does and who runs it
SolasAI makes software that tests AI and statistical models for bias and helps companies fix it. Beacon tests models for disparities before they go live and builds less discriminatory alternative models. Illumination monitors models once they’re in use and flags drift, data quality problems and fairness issues, with documentation ready for auditors and regulators.
The company was founded by Larry Bradley (CEO), Nicholas Schmidt (Chief Technology & Innovation Officer) and Bernard Siskin, Ph.D. (Chairman). Schmidt testified before the U.S. Senate Committee on Banking, Housing, and Urban Affairs on AI in financial services in January 2024. Siskin is a statistician who has testified in more than 200 cases and advised Fannie Mae and the CFPB.
SolasAI works with banks, credit unions, fintechs, insurers, healthcare organizations and employers, from community banks to national enterprises. It has completed a SOC 2 Type 2 audit. Its free Disparity & Bias Testing Library is on GitHub.
